7th Grade Enrichment Syllabus

Educational

Guidelines

This year, Mountain View has added a new class to our schedule called Advisory.

Mrs. Swayne

I follow Mountain View policy for academics and behavior support.  My classes are based 80% on assessments and 20% on Building Content Knowledge which includes homework, in-class assignments and activities.  My assessments, as well as my daily assignments and activities are based on Oregon State Standards.  I make every effort to ensure that everything is centered around multiple learning styles and academic levels of proficiency.  I utilize Bloom's Taxonomy as well as Differentiation Strategies.

Assessments will take many different formats.  Some will be paper pencil with multiple choice, fill in the blank, true false, etc.  Sometimes students will answer essay questions.  Every now and then students will create projects or even perform speeches to demonstrate their level of skill on the standard.  Because Newberg is working in Professional Learning Teams with Common Assessments, I will not be returning assessments to the students to keep and take home.  I do, however, maintain a file on each student with their assessments in it and am happy to pull the tests for review.

Students may retake any assessment within one week after receiving their original test score.  Any assessment may be retaken, however in order to earn a retake, a retake plan must be completed. Daily work, classified as Building Skills and Knowledge, is not eligible for a retake.
